Investigation criteria in areas affected by Active and Capable Faults (ACF) by developing innovative methodologies and their technological transfer to the professionals

Identifying and mapping Active and Capable Faults (ACFs), supported by recent technological
advances, enables more accurate analysis in neotectonic studies. Those in 'remote sensing’ improve
our ability to recognize faults at the surface. They can improve geological input, especially in
densely urbanized settlements. This project starts from the question: how do developments in
paleoseismic data collection affect Quaternary tectonic studies? Future advances, such as quality
control in paleoseismic studies, fault segmentation and scaling relationships, can help answer the
question.
The project aims to redefine how to approach the analysis of Active and Capable Faults, based
on the synergic integration of precision geophysics techniques, remote sensing analysis,
paleoseismology, and fieldwork, such as developing a supporting methodology for Seismic
Microzonation that represents the appropriate multidisciplinary study in which apply the above
approach and implementation guidelines for the professionals.
